Celeste is too old for anyone to remember what her whole and full name was. Some say she is older than time it self, and some say she is the spawn of the devil. But there is one that know her story fully, a person that she has thought was dead for so many years. Something like that rarely gets away from the old vampires eyes, but it has. Jace and Celeste used their first thousand years of living together, but then a terrible accident came between them and they fled to different places, and the two have never talked together again.
Now, in this world vampires are in different houses, and Celeste is the leader in the house of Chicago. It is less than a year since the whole vampire specie was expossed to the human world, and the hysteria has lessened and the people is almost facinated by the dark creatures. Of course there is those who still don't like vampires, is against them and would do anything in their power to destroy the specie, but it's a small number.
One night she gets an offer from one of the many high ranked humans around town. To turn his son, so that they could form an aliance with him. After some arguing she goes with it. Nicolas is a college studant and a late night after he's been out with friends, Celeste turns up in his appartmant, and without him even seeing her, she turns him. This is usually against everything she stand for, but the deal was too good to be rejected. She bring him back to her house in sentrum of Chicago and wait for him to wake up.
Of course the boy is furrious about what happened to him, but after some months he find himself actually enjoying the new abbileties the vampire life gives him. And him and Celeste use a lot of time to train, talk, just...be around each other. But after some time, they find themselves falling in love. Both know it's wrong, but still right. So they start a fling, but then something un-expected happens. Jace comes back in her life, and she find herself tangled between them. Maybe turning Nicolas would prove to not be such a good idea after all?
Over time, strange things happens and while Celeste is trying to figure out what it is, she still has the two blonde boys in the back of her head.
Is it the stray vampires trying to make the houses look bad?
Is it the werewolves?
Who is planting traces back to the different houses around the world, but mostly to the houses in the U.S?
